Have you watched Strictly and wished you could dance too? Join DanceTech’s new Sunday beginners class and discover the enjoyment of ballroom, Latin and sequence dancing.
This is a brand-new class for adults, starting from the very beginning with a new group. You don’t need any previous dance experience—just come along ready to learn and enjoy yourself.
Start together, learn step by step
Taking your first dance steps can feel daunting, especially if you’ve never danced before. Our new Sunday class gives you the opportunity to start alongside other beginners, with clear explanations, encouragement and time to practise.
We’ll introduce the basics gradually and build on what you learn each week. There’s no expectation that you’ll know any steps beforehand, and you don’t need to bring a partner.
Whether you’re coming on your own, as a couple or with friends, you’ll be welcome.
What will you learn?
Over time, you’ll be introduced to ballroom and Latin favourites you’ll recognise from Strictly, including:
- Waltz
- Rumba
- Cha cha cha
- Foxtrot
- Jive
- Quickstep
- Samba
- Paso doble
- American smooth
We’ll also introduce modern and classical sequence dancing, giving you more ways to enjoy dancing socially.
You won’t be expected to learn everything at once. We’ll start with manageable steps and simple routines, helping you build confidence as you go.
Expert teaching in a friendly, social atmosphere
Your teacher is Peter Bailey, Principal of DanceTech, who holds IDTA fellowship qualifications and is an IDTA examiner.
You’ll benefit from experienced tuition in a relaxed setting where enjoyment and steady progress come first. You don’t need ambitions to compete or take examinations—learning to dance for pleasure is what brings many of our pupils through the door.
Our aim is to help you feel comfortable on the dance floor while enjoying a sociable Sunday evening.
