Our Junior Ballroom & Latin dance class is particularly suitable for younger children and those who are new to Ballroom and Latin dancing.

It’s a friendly and encouraging introduction to dance where children can learn the basic steps, rhythms and techniques of popular Ballroom and Latin dances.

Children have the opportunity to learn dances such as the Waltz, Cha Cha Cha, Jive, Quickstep, Rumba, Samba and more, including many of the dances they may recognise from Strictly Come Dancing.

As well as learning to dance, classes help younger dancers develop confidence, coordination, balance, musicality and social skills.

No previous Ballroom or Latin dance experience is necessary.

Senior Ballroom & Latin Dance Classes

Our Senior Ballroom & Latin dance class is designed for older children and young dancers who already have some dance experience and are ready to develop their dancing further.

The class builds upon existing dance skills, with greater emphasis on technique, musicality, movement, presentation and performance while continuing to develop a wider knowledge of Ballroom and Latin dancing.

Young dancers can continue developing dances including Waltz, Quickstep, Tango, Cha Cha Cha, Rumba, Samba, Jive and more.

For those who would like to take their dancing further, there are opportunities to work towards IDTA dance examinations and participate in events and competitions.

Taking examinations or competing is completely optional. Children and teenagers are equally welcome to attend because they enjoy dancing, want to improve their skills and enjoy being part of the class.

Junior Street Dance & Freestyle Class

Our Junior Street Dance & Freestyle class is a fun and energetic dance class particularly suitable for younger children and those who are new to Street Dance and Freestyle.

Children learn exciting routines and dance movements to music while developing rhythm, coordination, fitness, flexibility, confidence and performance skills.

The class provides a friendly environment where younger dancers can learn at an appropriate pace, make new friends and, most importantly, enjoy dancing.

No previous Street Dance or Freestyle experience is necessary.

Children who would like to progress further can also have opportunities to work towards IDTA examinations and develop the skills required for competitions and performances.

Senior Street Dance & Freestyle Dance Class

Our Senior Street Dance & Freestyle class is aimed at older children and teenagers, particularly those who already have some dance experience and want to continue developing their skills.

Classes combine energetic choreography with the development of dance technique, musicality, fitness, flexibility, confidence and performance skills.

More experienced dancers can continue progressing their technique and learn increasingly challenging routines in an enjoyable and encouraging environment.

There are also opportunities for dancers who wish to progress further to take part in IDTA examinations, events and competitions.

Competition and examination work is optional, and dancers are equally welcome to attend simply because they enjoy Street Dance and Freestyle.

Professional Children’s Dance Classes Near Macclesfield

At DanceTech Ballroom Academy, we believe children’s dance classes should combine professional tuition with an environment where young dancers feel comfortable, encouraged and able to enjoy themselves.

Our children’s classes are taught by experienced, professionally qualified dance teachers.

DanceTech is led by Peter Bailey, who has over 30 years of dance teaching experience. Peter holds an IDTA Fellowship and is also an IDTA Examiner and competition adjudicator, including adjudicating at competitions and IDTA medallist qualifiers and finals.

Luella Revill teaches our children’s Ballroom & Latin classes as well as Street Dance and Freestyle. Luella holds IDTA qualifications in Ballroom, Latin, Freestyle and other dance genres and has more than 10 years of teaching experience.

Luella is also an ADFP adjudicator for Freestyle competitions and has coached many successful competition dancers.

This experience allows us to provide structured, professional dance tuition while maintaining the friendly and enjoyable atmosphere that is so important when teaching children and teenagers.

Preparing for an examination can provide children with a positive goal and a sense of achievement as they progress through their dancing.

Examinations are entirely optional. Children are equally welcome to attend our classes purely because they enjoy learning to dance.

Dance Competitions & Events

For children and teenagers who would like an additional challenge, there are opportunities for suitable dancers to participate in dance competitions, events and other activities.
